IOGear 2 Port Dual Link DVI KVMP Switch with 7 1 Audio and Cables GCS1782

July 13, 2009 by Cellular Technology · Leave a Comment

IOGear 2 Port Dual Link DVI KVMP Switch with 7 1 Audio and Cables GCS1782

IOGEAR’s GCS1782 Dual Link DVI KVMP switch marks a revolutionary step in KVM functionality by combining IOGEAR’s Display Technology with the wide screen graphics resolution of today’s 30 inch monitors, supporting resolution up to 3840 x 2400.This unique KVM can increase efficiency and save equipment cost for applications, where high resolution monitors are required: CAD (computer aided design) and CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing); Desktop publishing and Graphic design; video editing; and gaming, where high video resolution is demanded. In keeping with the proliferation of high speed devices, the GCS1782 provides two USB 2.0 peripheral ports for asynchronously sharing USB devices between your computers. A powered USB hub may be attached to the peripheral ports for expandability.GCS1782 is equipped with the IOGEAR’s Display Technology which remembers your monitor’s ideal resolution and refresh rate, making it possible to boot all your computers simultaneously, and switch back and forth between computers, while still maintaining the ideal resolution of the monitor.GCS1782 also supports 7.1 surround sound systems, ideal for video editing.

User Ratings and Reviews

3 Stars Some Problems
I have two problems with this KVM. First it isn’t working properly with my MS X5 Sidewinder Mouse. If I plug the mouse into the mouse port on the KVM it doesn’t function correctly. The X5 is a high resolution gaming mouse so I assume that’s the problem. If I use the provided USB port on the KVM it works fine.

The second problem is the MiniViewDVI appears to “remember” the resolution of the computers attached. When booting the attached computers the text based startup screens aren’t being displayed on the Dell 3007 30″ monitor (DVI-D) I have attached. This doesn’t happen if I connect the computers directly.

When both computers connected are fully booted and displaying their graphical interfaces (Vista and XP) and if I have the mouse plugged into the USB port all works as advertised.

I have a call into tech support. I’ll update this review later with results.

I just bought this devise for my Palm Centro and my Windows Vista Laptop. It was extremely easy to setup. Don’t forget to click on the bluetooth icon in the tray near your clock on your PC or laptop and setup the devise you want to transfer files with. I easily was able to wirelessly sync my phone and then transfered music files to the phone from my laptop. Never realized it would be so inexpensive to add this small bluetooth devise to my computer. The package does not say that it’s compatable with Vista but the Trendnet website and the installation booklet both say it, so don’t worry about setting up with Vista. Very easy, and I’m not a techy.

Verbatim 16x DVD R 4 7 GB Discs 25 spindle

July 4, 2009 by Cellular Technology · Leave a Comment

Verbatim 16x DVD R 4 7 GB Discs 25 spindle

Verbatim’s DVD-R media are compatible with DVD-R drives and are read compatible with most DVD-ROM drives and DVD-Video players. Use Verbatim DVD-R media for a data archiving, PC backup, audio/video recording, and more.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Great Quality Blank DVD-Rs

I barely find a coaster on the Verbatim DVD-R’s. It is as par as with the Maxells, Sony’s, TDKs and RiDatas that I have used before. Try to stay away from unknown brands that is kind of a hit or miss. The thing with DVD’s or CD’s is that when you find a bad one, it seems to be bunched into the same stack as they were manufactured at the same place and at the same time. My recommendation is not to burn DVDs or CDs using the maximum speed, the chance of a bad burn tend to be much much less if you use the next slower speed indicated on the media. Same as filling up the data capacity, 4200mb seems to work best for me as filling up the DVD to the edge may become problematic.
